Founder's Note
"Hi, I'm Marco Chinchilla, the person behind TROPICO. I'd love to share my story with you!
17 years ago, my adventure in the captivating Guanacaste coast began. I started as a receptionist, marking the beginning of a lifelong journey filled with wanderlust and a deep appreciation for the world of travel and hospitality.
As I embraced my role, the magic of opening your home to the world unfolded. Guiding travelers, listening to their stories, and witnessing them create their own tales became my passion. Their smiles, gratitude, and the unforgettable moments they experienced, often thanks to a little guidance from a newcomer like me, were incredibly rewarding.
My journey continued at Reserva Conchal, a vital tourism project on Costa Rica’s vibrant west coast. Wearing multiple hats – from golf shop attendant to concierge at the beach club and junior supervisor at Cafe Britt shops – these early experiences formed the bedrock of my career.
Armed with fluency in English and a knack for exceptional customer service, I ventured into high-profile arenas, collaborating with giants like Amazon and renowned travel companies such as Adobe Rent-a-Car, Costa Rica Expeditions, and CRS Tours. Each chapter in my journey unveiled new facets of my beautiful country, deepening my understanding of its hidden treasures.
Throughout these experiences, one dream remained close to my heart – to create a travel company of my own. The desire to share the wonders of Costa Rica with the world, just as I had shared them with countless travelers throughout the years, has always been my driving force. And now, the time has come to make that dream a reality.”

What does it mean to have the PYME seal?
Having the PYME sign is a mark of our commitment to quality, innovation, and community support. It signifies that we meet the standards and criteria set for small and medium-sized businesses by the SIEC (Sistema de Información Empresarial Costarricense). The SIEC is responsible for promoting and supporting the development of businesses in Costa Rica, ensuring they adhere to best practices and contribute positively to the economy.
This recognition acknowledges and distinguishes the effort and development of a PYME that maintains its PYME status up to date in the SEIC. This seal makes the company visible as a formal enterprise operating in the national territory, responsible to society, complying with current legislation, and eligible for the benefits inherent to its PYME status. It also identifies the company as such to both national and international consumers.

We are working towards affiliations, we already have business relationships with well-known hotels and tour operators in Costa Rica.
